The research is devoted to exploring the features of satire in Henry Fielding’s dramaturgic heritage. The picture of studies of the history of the English theatre cannot be complete without a thorough study of Fielding’s dramaturgical experience, which in many respects was ahead of his time. His works are characterized by an extraordinary variety of genres: comedy of manners, dramatic parody, farce, dramatic pamphlet, ballad opera, which gained new forms as a result of the author’s reflection. Such a variety of genre forms, plots, and heroes made it possible to fully satirize those areas of author’s contemporary life, social customs, phenomena, and character traits which the writer wanted to change for the better. Although he was only thirty years old when he turned to writing novels, his works as a novelist were certainly enriched by earlier achievements, and influenced the development of drama and the depiction of the comic in the following centuries. Henry Fielding earned the right to be called not only an outstanding democrat, humanist, educator, novelist, but also a prominent playwright and satirist.
