After the Second World War, there was a sharp leap in the development of science and technology, as a result of which the anthropogenic load on the environment reached the highest point of the maximum permitted level. Urbanization, the production of weapons, an increase in the number of nuclear power plants, the hypertrophic development of road transport, chemical and other hazardous industries have significantly changed the quality of the natural environment. All this endangers the very existence of man as a biological species. The article deals with the problem of the influence of anthropogenic factors on human health and the influence of some environmental pollutants on the human body: lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium.
