Abstract

Culturology has firmly become a part of modern humanities as a fundamental science and as an academic discipline in the educational system. Unlike other areas of knowledge, culturology as a system of cultural sciences arose quite recently – about a hundred years ago. A large number of themes is included in its general theoretical framework:  knowledge is concentrated in concepts, laws, principles and other scientific forms that are in a systemic relationship.

Outside a specific human community, culture is absent, being an abstraction that does not exist in its pure form. In reality, the researchers are dealing with the specific cultures that belonged to the specific historical eras and successively replaced each other. Culture can be perceived as an objective reality, a way of life of people who realize themselves in diverse cultural forms of existence accurately recorded by science.

Currently, humanity lives in a multicultural world: some individual cultural formations coexist, interact, compete, merge and disintegrate.  In this regard, the fundamental questions arise about the typology of cultures, their interaction and internal structure, modeling in the functioning of cultures within different ethnic groups. These and other pressing issues are successfully resolved by culturology helping to avoid a simplified and superficial understanding of cultural material.
