Countering gender discrimination is reflected in current international professional standards and in international academic discourse. The purpose of this research is to look at approaches to integrating gender priorities into social work practices and to outline possible ways to develop gender training for social workers. Purpose and components of gender approaches (gender integration, gender mainstreaming) are outlined. The continuum of gender approaches by R. Gupta (stereotypical, neutral, sensitive, transformative and empowerment approaches) is considered. Key principles for working with women within the feminist social work perspective (according to L. Dominelli), are identified. It is stressed that social workers should treat women as active agents of change, capable of making decisions independently in all aspects of their lives. The ideas regarding the peculiarities of women’s socialization in social work practice (J. Norman and B. Wheeler), as well as the concept of social work as a "women's profession" are characterized. The content of training of social workers is analyzed, the reasons for slowing down the implementation of gender sensitive educational strategies in Ukraine are determined. It has been pointed out that gender training of social workers should be oriented towards teaching future and current social work professionals to diagnose how gender determines the balance of power in relations between women and men, and leads to social oppression and discrimination.
