Current trends in social development challenge education in general and the training of specialists in tourism in particular. The best international experience in the higher education system and professional training of tourism managers needs approximation to the specifics of Ukraine. The analysis of the systematic experience of the Department of Regional Studies and Tourism of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in training tourism industry specialists suggests the rapid growth in the objective requirements for the continuous actualization of knowledge and abilities, skills, and qualifications acquired by specialists. The last "pandemic" years have ambiguity in the development of the tourism industry and the system of training specialists for it. The conformity requirements to tourism personnel appeal for the ability to act and respond professionally, offer hospitality services of international standards quality. The Ukrainian system of tourism vocational education and training has the potential to improve in several directions to meet the current needs.
